Ant Whorton-Eales begins his preparations

Lichfield based racing driver Ant Whorton-Eales began his preparations for the Courier Connections UK Clio Cup 2014 season with a productive test at the official BTCC test day at Thruxton last Tuesday

19 Year old Ant spent the day at the Hampshire based circuit where rounds 5 & 6 of this years Clio Cup will be held. Whorton-Eales made the most of 4 sessions on circuit and despite the terrible weather conditions remained within the top 4 all day.

The KX Akademy driver was pleased with the way the day progressed "Once on slicks the new car feels like a proper racer, it has a lot more grip than the old car and more power. With it being my first test in the car it was a relief to be able to run in the top 4, we are aiming for the championship this season so we need to be as fast and consistent as possible"

Whorton-Eales posted competitive lap times around the UK's fastest circuit, looking extremely comfortable in his new 1.6 litre turbo – charged Clio. Already showing such confidence and consistency on his first test in his new car can be taken as nothing other than confirmation that the 19 year old will be laying down a strong challenge for the championship title.

The season begins on 29th March at Brands Hatch however the BRDC Rising Star has plenty more seat time planned in the build up to this to ensure he is as familiar as possible with the car and is performing to the best of his ability.
